What does collaboration in education and development research look like? What contributions can research networks which work across continents make to transforming education in Africa?

This seminar presents a collaborative venture in conducting research with a team of scholars from Ghana, Japan, Kenya, Tanzania and the United Kingdom. By introducing articles currently written on pedagogy, curriculum and structural reform in Ghana, the seminar will discuss the ways the team has jointly conceptualised and operationalised research projects. It will highlight the fact that the network is not funding-driven but led by self-motivation and shared commitment of members, and that these have been cultivated in a purely virtual space with most members having never met in-person. The seminar will consider how such an approach to collaboration across continents might lead a more self-reliant and sustainable research networks. We also seek to explore some of the implications for continuing international cooperation in education and development in Africa.
